Support for elders
Later life brings its own changes, some welcome and some very hard. Elder support offers older adults a gentle, respectful space to talk about what they are going through, at a pace that suits them.
We also support the adult children and families who care for an older parent, since their wellbeing and the elder’s are often closely tied.
What elders often bring
The loss of a husband, wife, sibling or close friend. Adjusting to a new health condition or to the body changing. Loneliness, especially when children live in another city or country. Retirement, and the question of how to spend one’s days. Moving in with family, or moving to a smaller home. Old regrets, family tensions that have never been resolved, and thinking about what matters most in the years ahead.
How it works
We go at your pace. The first conversation is simply a chance to get to know each other and talk about what has been on your mind. There is no need to prepare. Some people like to talk about their life story; others prefer to focus on one current worry.
Sessions are conversations, not tests or lectures. We listen with care, respect a lifetime of experience, and help you find comfort, meaning and practical ways to manage what is in front of you.
If you would like a family member to join some or all of a session, that is welcome. We will always check with you first, and what you share on your own stays between you and us.
For families and carers
Caring for an ageing parent can bring love, duty, guilt and exhaustion all at once, and siblings do not always agree on what is best. We offer sessions for adult children and carers on their own, and family sessions when several people need to make decisions together.
In person or online
You are welcome at our studio in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. If travelling is difficult, sessions can happen by video from home. A family member can help set up the call the first time, and after that it is usually simple. Online sessions also make it possible for children living abroad to join a conversation with a parent in India.
Getting started
An elder can contact us directly, or a family member can reach out on their behalf. Send us a message or call, and we will talk through what would help and arrange a first conversation.
